This was one persistent little bastard of a story idea.
I can trace basic TW story ideas all the way back to 8th grade. It started in PE, when a friend and I formulated an idea for a comic about two sisters in a semi-fantasy world. Unfortunately, this is about the extent of where our ideas met, and no actual comic came into existence. None of her ideas exist in the current version of TW, especially as they were ideas stolen from existing works. I gave up on the story for then. Even if I had the time to devote to it, I had no art skills whatsoever.
However, throughout the next couple of years I would occasionally find a new spark of inspiration for the comic. The story would simply sit in the back of my mind and develop as I went through my daily activities. Names changed, places changed, personalities changed as well. Once I attempted to write the story in prose form, but it never turned out how I wanted it to. Whenever I tried to draw the comics, I got discouraged by the poor art quality; and yes, I’m trying to put this as eloquently as possible.
Now I am a junior in high school, and it’s almost been three years since TW spontaneously popped into my head. I have recently decided, just as spontaneously, to go ahead and start the webcomic. I don’t care if I’m eventually reduced to using stick figures; I am determined to make this work somehow. I may not get past the first twenty pages or—who knows?—I could finish telling the entire tale. Either way, I think that I have accomplished quite a bit by starting to share the story with an audience that will hopefully grow as the number of comics does.
